Seaview’s Ball Field – “Newman Field”

Landscaped and constructed in 1973, Newman Field is named after longtime Seaview homeowner and ballplayer Fred Newman, who spearheaded it’s construction. Located at the corner of Laurel Street and Thompson Avenue, the Seaview ball field is our community’s village green.

Ravaged by Hurricane Sandy, Seaview’s Field of Dreams was brought back to life in 2017 by the Seaview Association Board in coordination with the Seaview Softball Committee. The extensive renovation and maintenance were done by Seaview’s community manager Larry Mattiasen and Seaview resident and Fire Island landscaper Peter Brennan. The Seaview Association maintains the ball field throughout the year and weekly during the summer season.
