Seaview Boat Basin
The Seaview Boat Basin is located on Central Walk between Evergreen and Fairway Streets, just east of the Ferry Terminal. The property is irregular in shape and about 50,000 square feet. The basin was dredged and bulkheaded in the 1920s by the Great South Beach Improvement Company, the original developer of Seaview. In 1958, the Basin was sold to the Zegel family (who brought Seaviewers back and forth across the Great South Bay for decades on the ‘blue boats’ of the ZEE Line Ferry Company). Slips were rented predominantly to locals for the season.
In 1985 the Basin was sold and subsequently operated as a public Marina for the next 22 years. Purchased by the Seaview Association in 2007, the Boat Basin can currently accommodate approximately 60 boats of various sizes. Most of the slips are rented on a seasonal basis to Seaview residents. A limited number of slips are also available for short-term (transient) docking as well as seasonal rentals to non-residents. The boat basin infrastructure was totally rebuilt following superstorm Sandy in 2012. Water and electric hookups are available for the larger slips, and a full-time dockmaster is on duty from the facility opening in May through closing in October. Please note that there are no restrooms. The Town of Islip provides a pump-out boat.
We are proud recipients of the Boaters’ Choice Award given to the highest-rated marinas in Marinas.com annual survey for the past 2 years.
[2020 survey results will be out in May, 2021, we have our fingers crossed!]
