Dear Community Service Providers,
With the approach of the busy summer season on Fire Island, we are writing this letter to alert all community service providers that the Seaview summer vehicle regulations will be in effect this year from
MEMORIAL DAY WEEK-END TO LABOR DAY ( FRIDAY MAY 27 to TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 5th)
As you know, the Association has worked with local contractors and service providers to modify Islip driving guidelines to allow the safe use of golf carts during the summer season in Seaview. The Association policy acknowledges your need to conduct business during the week. But the success of these guidelines depends upon the cooperation and good-faith effort of all concerned. We expect that you and your employees will be exercising extreme vigilance and caution when using golf carts on Seaview walks.
• All golf carts must have a 2016 Town of Islip permit.
• All vehicles (including golf carts) must yield the right of way to pedestrians, slow down & stop at corners, maintain a speed not in excess of 5 M.P.H., and be equipped with properly operating brakes and horn.
• Golf cart use is allowed from 5 am to 5 pm, Monday through Thursday, and until 4 PM on Fridays.
• Carts may NOT be used in Seaview on week-ends between Friday May 27 and Labor Day. Emergency calls by essential services providers( electric, plumbing, propane delivery) with a valid 2016 Ocean Beach essential services permit are permitted at night and on week-ends.
For any other cart use at night or on week-ends, prior permission must be obtained from
Manager Larry Mattiasen at 516-639-8997.
We will be reminding our members that your ability to provide them with service on week-ends will be limited by Seaview vehicle regulations during the summer months. As always, we will urge our residents to observe pedestrian and bicycle safety rules---especially when approaching busy intersections.
Thank you for your commitment to maintaining safe conditions on Seaview walks during the summer months.
Sincerely, Tom Ruskin / Larry Mattiasen
President / Community Manager
